Fantasies of otaku no more, robotic women are here:

This reminds me eerily of Chobits, though this could lead to a productive future like GITS.

I'd like to see some videos of this in action before I pass judgement on just how human it looks.

Why can't people read Sci-Fi.

Andriods = Problems. Philosophical issues, moral issues, the fact that they'll eventually revolt and kill us all. Just because people are too fat and lazy to do chores we have to on this epic quest to make an andriod so we can give god the finger.

Making an android dosen't have to be a bad thing, if it leads to the making of fully fuctional prosthetic arms and legs then more power to the scientists.

I agree with Zechs.

And no, it doesn't necissarily lead to prosthetic limbs. It may in FORM, but not in FUNCTION. The biggest problem with such a thing is, how do you link up the brain and the limb? There is a professor that plans on having a chip put in his brain next year. He already had one put in his arm. He can move a robotic arm by moving his hand. The chip just sends a sort of "On/Off" signal out. But basically, this is the steps we need towards movable prostetic limbs.

Making androids leads to the Matrix.

And not the cool stuff that Neo does.

True it could lead to something like the Matrix, but the universe of GITS or Star Wars seems more probable. I mean look at the tachikomas or R2-D2, artificial intelligence dosen't have to be menacing and also the Terminator did come back to change the future for the better. Scientists have lately agreed that for robots to be acceptable in society they have to become more humanlike.

There is a robot that has been put to use in a retirement home but it looks like a blue box and talks like a speak'n spell, but the old folks still appriciate it. A humanlike android would be more easier to get along with.

At this point, I think there's still at least 250 years to go before androids/robots can replicate humanity without assistance. It's an interesting concept, but also highly frightening. Could you imagine an army of military androids hacked and used for nefarious purposes? Besides that, there's just no way of replicating human reasoning. Sure, AI can be programmed to exhibit certain patterns in different situations, but it is still incapable of inventing totally new solutions at any time.
